Review: BH Cosmetics Color Lock Lipsticks + Swatches

Along with the Galaxy Chic palette, I also bought some lipsticks because they were 50% off or more and I thought, why not. I actually had forgotten that I’d bought them and almost thought I might have gotten them by mistake but then I remembered that I got a few more things to make the postage worth it haha. The thing that most excited me was that they were matte and they had a good range of colours for me to choose from.

I wasn’t expecting Rapture to look like it did at all. Online, it looks like a deep plum colour. In the tube it looked really brown. On my hand it is like a red-dark brown shade. This is probably the most unique shade I own and I’m super happy to own it. Faithful was more of a gamble but now that I’m really embracing the nude-ish lip, I don’t mind trying different types of nudes out. This shade is like a my lips but better kind of shade. And I know that that usually isn’t a very helpful description because everyone pretty much says that about every colour under the sun but I saw this on people with skin much darker than mine and they said the same and it genuinely looked like a more glam shade of their lips. So I’ll stick to my cliche description, thank you very much.

As always, I’d recommend applying these after moisturising your lips with lip balm. People have said that these are drying but I didn’t notice that at all but that might be because they didn’t apply a lip balm first. This lipstick formula does cling to dry patches so you’ll want to exfoliate first, but that is pretty standard for matte lip colours.

These are beautifully pigmented and I am probably going to buy a few more of these shades. In other reviews that I’ve read, people have said to stay away from the lighter, brighter shades because they are patchy.
